First Renders of Nokia 6 (2018) Leaked Online; Official Launch Set for Today

HMD Global is set to unveil the Nokia 6 (2018) as early as January 5 (tomorrow), if the leaked invites are to be believed. Though much has been reported about Nokia 6 (2018) specs, from various leaks as well via China’s TENAA listing, there was no information on how the device would look like. Now, just a day before its alleged release, first renders of second-gen Nokia 6 have appeared on a Chinese website.

The Nokia 6 (2018) photos revealing both front and rear panels, and as well as minor details emerged on a Chinese website, Vtechgraphy. At first look, the new Nokia 6 completes resembles the older and original Nokia 6 released exactly a year ago, continuing the same tough design style. There are, however, minor design changes from a gold trim design around the phone border to replacing the fingerprint scanner from the front panel to rear of the device.
The fingerprint scanner has now been placed under the camera lens, and the camera module also sports a thin gold stripe design. These new visual changes impact the whole black body giving it a steady elegance.

In addition, the Nokia 6 now supports even thinner bezels both up and below the display, but sadly, it’ still a 16:9 screen and not an 18:9 display. With fingerprint scanner moved to the rear, the lower bezel has been made even thinner. This brings the greater screen-to-body ratio to Nokia 6, even though the device doesn’t incorporate the trendy full-screen design.
Moreover, the Nokia 6 is mentioned as “Nokia 6 the second generation” on the sales box. This means the new device will not be named Nokia 6 2018 but more aptly second-gen Nokia 6. We have to wait until tomorrow to know the official name of the product.

As per earlier reports, the second generation of Nokia 6 will maintain the 5.5-inch Full HD with 16: 9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 mobile chipset along with 4GB of RAM. The new Nokia 6 will come with two storage options – 32GB and 64GB, while a microSD card will allow expansion up to 128GB.
As for the camera, the Nokia 6 is still configured with a 16MP rear sensor and 8MP selfie camera. The device is backed by 3000mAh battery and runs Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. Other details of the device remain under wraps and will be only revealed when the device launches tomorrow. The device will be a Chinese exclusive for the time being, but we’re expecting it to launch on a global scale at the MWC 2018 event.
